  2. You need 10 Kashmiri chillies
  3. Get 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  4. Take 2 tsp Urad dhal

  10. Prepare 1 Tamarind Gooseberry size (soak in warm water)
  11. You need 1 cup Thoor dhal
  12. You need 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  13. Get 1 Carrot
  14. Prepare 1 Manglore cucumber
  15. You need to taste Salt
  16. Prepare For tempering:
  17. Provide 1 tsp Mustard seed
  18. Take little Hing
  19. Provide 15 Curry leaves
  20. Use 4 dry red chillies
Instructions to make Udupi sambar:
  1. Wash and Cook thoor dhal in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder. Mash and keep.
  2. Heat a pan, add 1tsp oil, fry all the dry ingredients and remove pan and add coconut, mix, let it cool. Grind as paste
  3. In a vessel cook the vegetables until soft, add mashed dhal, ground paste, jaggery, salt to taste, and add tamarind juice.
  4. Let it boil for few mins, now tempering the sambar with mustard seed, chilli, curry leaves. If you like add 1tbs of ghee to add more flavour
