- Prepare 1 bowl chana dal (I use chana+green moong dal)
- Get 1 tsp Green chilli+garlic paste
- Prepare leaves Curry
- Provide 1 tsp Mustard seeds / Cumin seeds
- Provide as needed Oil
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Use 1/2 tsp Jaggery
- Use 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- Use 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Use 1 tbsp Goda Masala
- Provide pinch Asafoetida
- Prepare 2 tbsp Sliced dry coconut
- Prepare 2 tbsp Peanuts
- Provide 3/4 tbsp besan
- Prepare as needed Water
- Prepare 1 tsp Tamarind pulp
Steps to make Paatal Bhaji / Dal Bhaji:
- Mix spinach+chana dal+peanuts+coconut slices+curry leaves and water. Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin, asafoetida, curry leaves, and chilli-garlic paste. Fry for 3-4 minutes. Add red chilli powder, turmeric, goda masala and cooked spinach-dal with water.
- Add salt, jaggery, tamarind pulp, besan + water to curry and cook for 5-7 minutes. You can add finely chopped coriander and kasuri methi too.
- While serving pour garlic-cumin-asafoetida+red chilli tadka over it. Enjoy!
