The ingredients needed to make Sambar version 1:
- You need 1 cup red lentils
- Use 2 finely chopped tomatoes
- You need 1/2 cup onions
- Get 2 tbsp cilantro
- Provide 1/2 spoon mustard seeds
- Use 2 sambhar powder
- Prepare 2 red chillies
- Provide As needed oil
- Provide 3 cups water
- Provide 2 strand curry leaves

Instructions to make Sambar version 1:
- Wash and soak dal for 10mins. In a pressure cooker add red lentils(split masoor), turmeric, tomatoes, onions, 1/2spn oil and required water. Pressure cook for 3whistle.
- Now blend the dal, add sambar powder to it and being it to boil. In a pan add oil, mustard, asafoetida, curry leaves and red chilles. Make tempering and add to the sambar. Finally add few chopped cilantro and serve with any fav breakfast
- Note: Do not add tamarind for this sambar. Taste changes completely. After adding tempering do not boil the sambar.
